When I heard about the news that scientists have discovered a sea scorpion which was much bigger the present humans, I was really surprised. If you can imagine how would have look like such scorpion, then you must really scared. But this is a true story and scientists found the 46 cm long claw of this giant sea Scorpio as fossil. You just imagine, if the claw of that scorpion was that big, then how big its body must be. Present humans would be nothing to that scorpion. The most interesting thing about the discovery is that the scorpion was cannibal. And if we could see the fight among such scorpion, then it must be a great entertainment show. Scientists the fossilized claw of this Scorpio and they expected the length of the scorpion must be 2.5 meters. But the inhabitant of this scorpion was sea and they were ruling the world before the age of dinosaurs.

The age of this sea scorpion is traced back to 390 million years and it is sharply before the era of dinosaurs. As everyone knows scorpion is an arthropod which means the presence of external skeleton and segmented body. Scientists never expect arthropod with such huge size though they have known for some time from the study of fossil records that there were some giant arthropods but never expect that much big. Now they made the inference that the historic insects, spiders, crabs, dragonflies were much bigger than they have expected. Scientists of different corners of the world praise the discovery to be one of the most amazing discoveries in the history of fossil hunt.

The fossil of this sea giant scorpion was discovered in a part of Germany and the sea scorpion was named as Jaekelopterus rhenaniae. This new discovery of 2.5 meters scorpion suggests that this arthropod is half a meter longer than the previous arthropods that scientist estimated. But if you think how such arthropod with external skeleton and segmented body can support all the body parts for the moment and other activities, then you will take years to confirm. It must be a complex structure. And if such structure comes in your nightmare, then surely you will die of scare. Still it is not clear how the sea giant scorpion managed to move their body.

Also scientists have developed many theories about the extra huge size of the arthropod. Some scientists suggest that the sudden increase in the oxygen level of earth’s atmosphere at the time might be the reason of their uncontrolled increase in their size. Another scientist suggests that this sea scorpion was cannibals and they fight with one another to eat and for food. Might be the huge size of the scorpion was the ultimate weapon for them and therefore those scorpion with larger body was successful and therefore the size grew bigger and bigger. But I would like to suggest that “At that time there was not a creature called Human and therefore they could grow that much big. Else humans never let others to grow that much big.”
