Another Indian - Vikram Pandit in the top 100 fortune list
Many Indians are doing outstanding jobs in the international level and it is not a surprise that Vikram Pandit, an Indian born becomes the CEO of Citigroup. Because Indian people have the enough caliber to work in such highly classified jobs and most of the Indians who took descent education in United States are good management. And with the Nagpur-born Vikram Pandit throned as the CEO of Citigroup, the most famous financial institute in the United States, there are three Indian born figures in the 100 fortune list of United States. Here, I can recall that there are 15 (fifteen) companies in the 100 fortune list of United States are run by non-US (foreign born executives). And even more interesting is that out of this 15 companies, 3 fortunate companies are run by Indian born executives. This simply says the importance and the role of Indian people in the world business. It is a very challenging position to become the CEO of Citigroup which is the largest financial institution of the nation.
S P Hothari, deputy dean of the Sloan School of management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, says:
“It’s just a numbers game. It’s absolutely nothing wrong with the United States, but our population here is only 300 million. Imagine 2 billion people from the outside start getting descent education and going through the pipeline. Well, we are going to encounter more of them who are going to top.”
Ayers (82nd fortunate CEO) ideas:
“I’ve benefited from an Indian background. Growing up in a very simple family with the real passion for hard work.In other words, you never stop working. You just worked. Work was liberating and work was part of what defined who you were.”
The citigroup is in the 8th position of the 100 fortune list and now Vikram Pandit is the CEO of this company. Now an Indian run company is in the 8th position (under 10) of the US 100 fortune list. Vikram Pandit just made a record because he is the first Indian to hold such high fortune ranking which is followed by Indra Nooyi, CEO of Pepsico and this company rank 63rd in the fortune list which is again followed by Ramani Ayer who is the CEO of Hartford Financial Services which is in the 82nd rank of the 100 fortune list. The position of Vikram Pandit is quite far from that of Indra Nooyi and Ramani Ayer. In another side, it may be a planning for the US companies to select foreign-born CEOs to accelerate their growth in the foreign markets also. But it is true that the management of Indian IIMs is the highest level in the whole world. Nowadays Indian born people are making many remarkable histories these days.
