Well, most of the people keep their windows update setting automatic and the windows gather new update files whenever there is new release. Sometimes you may encounter some problem due to the windows update and in any case if you want to find and delete the windows update files, then you can follow the path as I am going to share in steps. Recently I faced some problem in my Windows Vista operating system due to automatic update setting and I follow these steps to delete the update files. This is applicable in any kind of Windows like Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 7 and others.

Many people have the doubt whether it is safe to delete the Windows update file and whether the operating system will get crashed when we delete the Windows update files. If you follow the steps below, you will never experience Windows Operating System crash or any trouble.

1. Open Start –> Then Open Run (Press Windows Key and r)
2. Type “services.msc” (without quotes) in the Run and click OK, this will take you to the services Window.
3. Stop automatic update service - Right click on automatic updates service and select stop.
4. After this step, again press Window key and r.
5. Then, type “%windir%\SoftwareDistribution” (without quotes) and press enter.
6. Now open the Download folder and delete all contents of the Download folder.
7. Close the window, press Window Key and r ( or Open Start –> Run )
8. Type “services.msc” (without quotes) and Click OK
9. Right click on Automatic Updates Service and select Start. (In case if you want to restart the automatic updates)
10. Over. That’s it.

It is very simple, I know. But if someone had never done this before, then it may be a tough task for him to find these steps.
